I have always been a fan of an oversized shirt, especially mens/boyfriend style. So when Hawes & Curtis got in touch, and asked if I would like the challenge to style one of their shirts, it didn’t take me long to chose. A crisp white shirt is a staple in any persons wardrobe, so I’d thought I’d demonstrate just how great and versatile they are, by creating this here blog post.
It consists of two parts, in the first part I put together a typical casual day to day outfit consisting of said hero shirt. This is probably my favourite way in which to style a shirt. The juxtaposition of a crips white cotton and baggy denim jeans, makes me feel giddy – I know I sound like an A Level english student, but its true. The undone nature of the cuffs, buttons and half tuck really give it that relaxed feel. With the oversized clutch, statement necklace and messy bun completing the look. And the Silver shoes – well need I say more, I was like a magpie drawn to precious treasure. The coat, although extremely bright, bold and beautiful was a necessity. As even though its technically British Summer Time here in the UK, it rained and dropped to under 15c on the day of shooting.

The second outfit is a lot smarter and more of an event/work outfit. I found these trousers in my mums wardrobe. If you didn’t know already, my mum has exactly three wardrobes, half a chest of drawers and then more storage under the bed. All of which is filled to the brim with clothes. Lovely, lovely clothes. And within this mix I found these lovely striped wool trousers from Burberry. They also have this special power to make your legs look twice their actual length, which is always a plus.
If you’re looking for a smarter outfit a white shirt is always a great place to start! Or if you’re not an avid white shirt pusher like myself, then Hawes & Curtis have lots of other interesting and stylish colour ways and designs. They also have a sale on right now, with shirts priced from £17.95, which if you ask me, is pretty great considering the quality. Another thing thats great about this particular shirt is that the length and mass of the shirt reveals ‘so much more room for activities!’ In all seriousness it means you can play around with styling more. If you’re feeling particularly brave, check out this article from my favourite blog of all time – Man Repeller. It shows you more ways to rock your favourite button down shirt this Summer.
Can we also touch on the hat. Recently because of the weather here in Britain I haven’t been able to wear any. Not because of the “heat”, but because its just been to windy. Oh the British weather.

Which look is your favourite? I cant make up my mind.
P.S. Proving that ladies we don’t need a “man” to rock that ‘I’m wearing the boyfriends shirt’ look. Simply buy one in the summer sale, and save yourself the time and hassle, because lets face it we only want them for their shirts, right?!
